HomeView: Apple's Smart Home Accessories Plan

Apple is preparing to roll out its Apple Home Collection, a lineup of smart home accessories built around the HomeView display and the Apple Home app. The collection pairs hardware from LG Electronics and Schneider Electric with home automation that keeps camera footage private, even from Apple. According to Apple, select devices will become available in December 2026, with additional accessories arriving in early 2027.

The central idea is that users can check cameras, unlock doors, and adjust the temperature without juggling separate apps or accounts. Apple is positioning itself less as a device creator in this market and more as a device manager, bringing together products from different manufacturers under one interface. Partnerships with companies like LG would be mutually beneficial, giving Apple a broader catalog and giving partners access to its ecosystem.

Pricing spans a range of options. Schneider Electric wall mounts for the HomeView start at $59.95 for a self-install USB-C connector, with a $79.95 professional-install hardwire option and a $129.95 Power over Ethernet mount planned later. Schneider also offers a $199.95 Smart Home Thermostat and a $39.95 Home Room Sensor. LG's lineup includes a $249.95 wired video doorbell, a $349.95 smart deadbolt lock, several indoor and outdoor cameras priced from $199.95 to $399.95, and a $199.95 smart thermostat.

Privacy is a key selling point. Camera footage is processed on-device or through Private Cloud Compute, and eligible iCloud+ plans store 10 days of encrypted event history. Apple says camera footage and Home app data are never made available to LG, Schneider Electric, or Apple itself. Eligible iCloud+ plans also add Apple Intelligence video descriptions and natural-language searches, making it easier to check what happened at home. Paid ADT installation will be offered through Apple Retail for an additional charge.
