Apple has unveiled the first-ever update to the HomePod mini, focusing on how it can fit into a smart home setup alongside devices like the Apple TV 4K. Announced as part of Apple's "Welcome Home" release, the HomePod mini 2 comes in new pink and green options, while the previous blue, white, and midnight colors remain available.

Kaiann Drance, Apple's vice president of Worldwide Home Product Marketing, said the device "brings together Siri AI, gorgeous new colors, and incredible audio." She noted that it fills a room with sound on its own, which gets even bigger in a stereo pair or with multiroom audio. When paired with the new Apple TV 4K, she said it delivers the company's "most immersive home theater setup yet."

Externally, the design is unchanged from the original model released in 2020, apart from the colors. The top of the speaker now features Sound Glow, a feature that pulses colors and lights in sync with the audio being played. Internally, the device gains a more significant upgrade: an S10 processor replaces the S5 chip used in the Apple Watch Series 5.

Apple has confirmed that the HomePod mini 2 can be used in a surround sound configuration with the updated Apple TV 4K (4th Generation). The system with four speakers also recognizes the position of each speaker in a room and calibrates timing and audio levels to suit the space. The HomePod mini 2 costs $149 and is available for pre-order now, shipping from October 30, 2026.
