Apple Vision Pro Flight Ban: What Airlines Really Say

A Delta passenger was told by a flight attendant to remove his Apple Vision Pro during a flight, despite no major U.S. airline specifically banning the headset. The passenger shared their experience online, saying they couldn't find any written airline rule prohibiting the device.

AppleInsider reviewed the contracts of carriage for American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, and Southwest Airlines. None of these carriers have specific policies addressing the Apple Vision Pro. Instead, their rules broadly cover portable electronics, lithium batteries, device stowage, and passenger compliance with crew instructions.

Federal Aviation Administration regulations allow airlines to permit passenger electronics if operators determine they won't interfere with navigation or communication systems. However, flight attendants retain final authority to request removal of any device they deem problematic. The Apple Vision Pro's immersive nature creates practical cabin safety concerns, as it can obstruct a passenger's view of the cabin and make it harder to notice crew instructions or emergency signals.
