The assistant runs on Apple Intelligence and adds a chatbot‑style interface across the ecosystem. Rumors that only post‑2024 hardware would receive it are inaccurate, as any Apple‑Intelligence‑enabled device gets the core experience.

Confusion erupted because Apple highlighted its “most advanced on‑device model,” which only powers iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone Air, iPad models with an M5 chip and 12 GB RAM, and Macs with M3 or newer and at least 12 GB RAM. That model enables just two Siri AI upgrades—custom voice tones and system‑wide dictation improvements—while all other features rely on existing on‑device cores.

Apple clarified that every other Siri AI capability, including the conversational UI, will arrive on any device already running Apple Intelligence, regardless of age.
