Apple March 4 Event: M5 MacBook Pro, iPhone 17e Rumors Heat Up

Apple has scheduled an invite-only event for March 4 in New York City, London, and Shanghai, sparking intense speculation about potential product launches. The unusual tri-city format and lack of streaming plans suggest this won't be a major keynote, but rather a targeted product showcase.

M5 MacBook Pro models appear to be the most likely candidates, with the 14-inch and 16-inch versions expected to receive M5 Pro and M5 Max upgrades. The MacBook Air could also see an early M5 refresh, though its M4 models launched just last month. Another intriguing possibility is a budget MacBook featuring an A18 Pro iPhone chip rather than an M-series processor, potentially priced between $699 and $750.

The iPad lineup may also see updates, with the iPad Air and base iPad models potentially jumping to M4 and A17 chips respectively. The iPad mini could make the biggest leap with an A20 Pro chip and OLED display upgrade. An early iPhone 17e launch is also possible, featuring a 6.1-inch OLED display with Dynamic Island instead of the traditional notch. While desktop Macs like the iMac and Mac mini received M4 updates last year, they're unlikely to appear at this event, with major desktop refreshes expected later in 2026.
