Apple has officially launched "Ads on Maps," allowing businesses in the US and Canada to advertise within Apple Maps search results starting August 14, 2026. The company is offering incentives to encourage early adoption, with eligible businesses ordering by October 11, 2026, receiving a discount. This discount is applied to the following month's spend, capped at $1,000 and valid for the first year.

Apple emphasizes that ads will not compromise user privacy, stating personal data remains on the device and is not shared. With over a billion monthly business searches on Maps, Apple aims to provide businesses with a new advertising avenue, similar to its App Store ads. Businesses already using Apple Ads can add Maps as an option, while new advertisers with over five retail locations are directed to sign up for Apple Ads, and smaller businesses can use the Apple Business tool.

Restrictions are in place, prohibiting ads for political parties, alcohol, gambling, medical aids, and notably, home services like plumbers and electricians. Apple asserts that ads will only appear for relevant searches and will include calls to action, such as directions. Existing and new advertisers can find more information on business.apple.com.
