Apple has virtually eliminated the remaining addressable iPhones targeted by the Coruna exploit being traded on the black market — but only if users update their devices. The patches, included in iOS 15.8.7 and iOS 16.7.15 released Wednesday, now secure devices as old as the iPhone 6s, closing gaps left by earlier fixes like iOS 17.2. The exploit, allegedly developed by the U.S. government and leaked to cybercriminals, has been weaponized to drain crypto accounts and hijack devices globally. iPhone 8 models were among those previously vulnerable, but Wednesday’s updates extend protection to even older hardware.
