After a two-year wait, Apple Intelligence arrives in China via the iOS 27.3 developer beta, rolling out officially on Saturday. The initial wave mirrors earlier AI incarnations, bringing features like Photos Clean Up, Visual Intelligence, and writing tools. While Siri integration and full capabilities are pending, the update includes notification and email summaries, Smart Reply, and Notes transcription.
Apple partnered with Alibaba to integrate Qianwen models, with a full public launch planned for December. The arrival resolves regulatory hurdles through local partnerships, marking a significant expansion for Apple's AI ecosystem in the Chinese market.
