Apple Commits $30 Billion to Broadcom for US Chip Production

Apple confirmed a $30 billion multi-year agreement with Broadcom extending through 2031, marking the largest single-company commitment under its American Manufacturing Program. The deal covers custom silicon and advanced wireless connectivity components for Apple devices, with production targeting more than 15 billion chips manufactured domestically.

A $1.5 billion capital investment will expand and modernize Broadcom's Fort Collins, Colorado facility, where the company produces Film Bulk Acoustic Resonator (FBAR filters) critical to iPhone radio performance. Apple says the partnership supports hundreds of U.S. jobs and deepens a relationship that dates back to early iPhone models.

The commitment sits within Apple's broader $600 billion pledge to invest in the U.S. economy over four years, announced in 2025. Tim Cook framed the deal as a win for domestic manufacturing while thanking the Trump administration for its support, signaling continued political alignment around onshoring semiconductor supply chains.

For consumers, the agreement secures a stable domestic source for the RF front-end components that determine cellular reception quality and 5G performance. For the industry, it reinforces a trend where device makers lock in long-term foundry capacity to hedge against geopolitical risk and supply constraints.
