Apple released a developer beta firmware build for AirPods, AirPods Pro, and AirPods Max, preparing the devices for forthcoming iOS 27 features. The update, build 9A5314b, is accessible only to developers and enables testing of new functionalities.

This beta firmware allows developers to experiment with changes such as a redesigned AirPods settings menu with clearer labels and groupings. A new customizable equalizer will also be available under the AirPods settings. For AirPods Pro 3 users, heart rate tracking will now integrate with Gym Kit on compatible exercise equipment. Additionally, Apple Watch users will gain the ability to locate missing AirPods using Find My.

This proactive firmware update demonstrates Apple's strategy of ensuring seamless integration between its hardware accessories and new operating system versions. By providing developers with early access, Apple aims to refine these new personal audio features before their public release, potentially improving user experience with features like enhanced settings management and fitness tracking.
