Meta killed its popular workout app Supernatural, but the VR fitness favorite is returning as an independent company. The app's original founders and coaches will relaunch Supernatural this fall, free from Meta's control after the tech giant shut down the service in January 2026 following an FTC legal battle over its acquisition of Within.

Supernatural gained over 113,000 loyal fans during its run, offering daily coach-led workouts with popular music and immersive environments. The app launched in 2020 during the pandemic and became a community-driven fitness experience that changed many users' lives, as evident from the emotional reactions to its discontinuation when fans shared how it transformed their health routines.

The relaunch will maintain the subscription model at $20 monthly or $200 annually, with a founder's rate available for early registrants. The team plans to rebuild the app from the ground up, keeping original coaches while developing the experience based on community feedback. VR fitness enthusiasts can expect a familiar yet improved experience when the app returns this fall, potentially expanding beyond Meta Quest to other VR platforms.
