Motorola Razr Fold skips Qi2 but offers 50W wireless charging

Motorola’s first book‑style foldable, the Razr Fold, hits the market with high‑end specs and a promise of seven years of OS updates. While it supports up to 50W wireless charging via a separate TurboPower pad, the device lacks the newer Qi2 fast‑wireless standard altogether, a notable omission as competitors adopt it.

Android Central tested the phone’s Qi EPP capability and found it can deliver up to 15W, or jump to 50W when paired with Motorola’s 50W Wireless TurboPower Charger sold separately. No case or firmware tweak enables Qi2 compatibility, meaning users cannot take advantage of emerging third‑party accessories that promise ultra‑fast charging beyond the phone’s native limits.

Motorola defended the choice, stating the Razr Fold, Razr Ultra, Razr+, and the classic Razr all deliver over 30 hours of battery life and can recharge from 0 to full in 8–15 minutes using its super‑fast wired charger. The company argues that this balance of features meets consumer needs without the Qi2 addition.

Pre‑orders opened on May 14 with shipments slated for May 21, positioning the Razr Fold as a flagship contender for 2026. Despite missing Qi2, its 50W wireless capability and foldable design may still attract buyers seeking a premium Android experience, making it one of the most talked‑about foldables this year.
