Motorola Magnetic Charger Leak Hints at Qi2 Expansion

Leaked images reveal a polished magnetic charging puck from Motorola, dubbed the Moto Snap, featuring a slim Mag Safe-style design with a braided USB-C cable and metallic finish. The accessory suggests Motorola may expand native magnetic charging across its mid-range and flagship lineup. Android manufacturers have lagged behind Apple and Google in adopting magnetic wireless charging, but this leak indicates Motorola is preparing to catch up.

The Moto Snap includes a purple illuminated ring and is designed to attach directly to compatible phones. Notably, Motorola's Edge 70 Max already features built-in Qi2 magnets, supporting wireless charging up to 25W without requiring a special case. The company claims the device can deliver up to 12 hours of battery life from just six minutes of wired charging using its 90W Turbo Power technology.

While Motorola has not officially commented, the Moto Snap may initially serve as an accessory for the Edge 70 Max. However, its broader release could signal a shift toward making magnetic charging a mainstream Android standard. If Motorola integrates native Qi2 magnets into more devices, it could significantly boost adoption across the Android ecosystem.
