Meta has brought Instagram Reels to Google TV devices, marking the company's first expansion into large-screen entertainment. Users can now watch and interact with Reels content on their living room screens, navigating through themed interest-based channels using their TV remote. This move follows Instagram's earlier testing on Fire TV devices.

The new app allows viewers to like, comment, and share content directly from their couches, with feeds curated based on interests including sports, cooking, travel, and comedy. Instagram head Adam Mosseri confirmed the rollout, which supports up to five accounts on a single Google TV device. Users can search for favorite creators directly on their televisions.

Currently limited to the U.S. market, the Instagram TV app can be downloaded from the Google Play Store. While convenient for sharing content with family, some users may question Instagram's push to bring its addictive short-form videos into yet another screen environment, potentially increasing screen time significantly.
