Google is developing a new "Phone to Watch Unlock" feature that automatically unlocks your Pixel Watch with your Pixel phone. The feature works in reverse of today's Watch Unlock, eliminating the need to enter your watch PIN repeatedly.

Currently, Google offers Watch Unlock that lets your Pixel Watch unlock your Pixel phone when the watch is already unlocked and on your wrist. However, it doesn't work the other way around. As spotted by Android Authority, the new feature would automatically unlock your Pixel Watch whenever you unlock your paired Pixel phone.

Code strings discovered in Google's Connected Phone and Watch Services app suggest the feature will be exclusive to the Pixel ecosystem. Users will be prompted to enable it during setup, requiring a one-time PIN verification. No official rollout date, but it could arrive with Android 17's first major Feature Drop expected next month.
