Google Home Now Supports Workspace Accounts

Google is expanding its smart home ecosystem by adding Workspace account support to the Home app. This highly requested feature allows business users to manage Nest devices without switching accounts. The rollout begins this week, addressing a long-standing limitation for professional users who needed separate personal accounts for their smart home setups.

Workspace users can now set up the latest Nest devices, including the 4th-gen Learning Thermostat and Nest Doorbell 3rd-gen. The update also brings expanded home sharing capabilities, letting users invite others to their homes for device control. However, access restrictions remain: Workspace accounts cannot join the early access Gemini for Home program or select Google Assistant features.

The timing coincides with recent improvements to Google's Gemini AI in the Home app, which now responds 30-40% faster and better understands natural language commands. This expansion represents Google's continued investment in making its smart home platform more accessible to both personal and professional users, though limitations on advanced AI features suggest a deliberate boundary between consumer and business offerings.
