Samsung's Galaxy S26 series now supports using your phone as a webcam for PCs via USB-C, a feature Android has offered since 2023. This means Galaxy users can finally ditch their laptop's subpar camera for video calls using either front or rear cameras.

Google introduced native webcam support with Android 14 QPR1, shortly after the pandemic drove demand for better video call quality. While Apple had already enabled iPhone webcam functionality for Macs, Android adoption lagged behind. The Galaxy S26 brings this capability to Samsung's flagship lineup, though it's limited to USB connections for now.

The feature includes a high quality mode that streams better video but may cause slight heating. Users can charge their phone while using it, making it practical for long meetings. Interestingly, Samsung already offered similar functionality within its ecosystem, but this marks the first time it's bringing broader USB support to its phones.
