Amazon Fire TV Redesign: Faster UI, Top Navigation, 20 App Pins

Amazon is rolling out a major Fire TV interface redesign that modernizes the platform with faster performance and improved navigation. The update, which began reaching select devices in the U.S. after its CES 2026 debut, moves navigation elements to the top of the screen and surfaces content from all streaming services, not just Prime Video. Fire TV Stick 4K Plus and Fire TV Stick 4K Max (2nd Gen) users are among the first to receive the update.

This redesign marks a significant departure from Fire TV's longstanding interface, which had remained largely unchanged for years. The new top navigation bar includes Menu, Search, and Home buttons alongside tabs for Movies, TV Shows, Sports, News, and Live TV. Users can now pin up to 20 apps on the home screen, a substantial increase from the previous six-app limit. Amazon promises 20-30% faster performance with the updated Fire TV OS, along with smarter Alexa+ features that support natural language queries and on-screen context.

The update also enhances smart home integration, allowing users to access connected devices like Ring cameras through the remote's Home button. While the rollout is currently limited to U.S. users, those with supported devices can check for updates in Settings > My Fire TV > About. The interface redesign brings Fire TV closer to competitors like Google TV while maintaining its distinct identity.
