Spotify launches Reserved ticket pre‑sale for U.S. superfans

Spotify rolled out Reserved, a Premium‑only feature that holds up to two concert tickets for a fan before the general sale. Eligible listeners—18 or older and subscribed in the United States—receive the offer via their Home screen, Search, artist pages and the Now Playing view. The service runs in partnership with Live Nation and is powered by Ticketmaster.

Reserved determines eligibility using a mix of streaming data, saves, shares and geographic signals, aiming to surface superfans most likely to attend. Once flagged, users see the tour dates, a one‑day purchasing window and can set reminders. Two tickets remain on hold for the duration, but buyers are urged to act quickly to claim preferred seats.

The first artist to test the system was Role Model, whose fans could lock in tickets ahead of anyone else. By embedding ticket access directly into the music app, Spotify blurs the line between streaming and live‑event commerce, giving Premium subscribers a tangible perk while giving promoters a new funnel for high‑intent sales.

Critics note that keeping algorithmic criteria secret may spur attempts to game the system, but Spotify says opacity prevents strategic manipulation. As ticket scalping remains a pain point, Reserved could become a template for other streaming platforms seeking to lock fans into live experiences.
