Speechify is extending its voice typing to every iPhone and Mac user on Tuesday, and it arrives free of charge. The tool claims it can transcribe up to 160 words per minute, a speed previously gated behind a subscription. Dropping the fee lets the entire user base access dictation, offering a faster text‑entry option for casual and professional workflows.

On macOS, users press and hold fn + space to begin dictation and release fn to stop. iOS users invoke the feature through Speechify’s custom keyboard. The app then runs an AI auto‑editing layer that strips filler words, corrects punctuation and restructures sentences, delivering polished prose rather than raw transcription. This real‑time processing distinguishes Speechify from basic speech‑to‑text utilities.

Speechify plans launches for workflows, starting with Voice Agents—a platform for phone‑based AI agents that retain memory, access knowledge bases and handle telephony. Speechify Work will automate tasks from mobile and web prompts. Updated SIMBA APIs will add emotion control and voice cloning. These moves turn the service into an AI productivity hub, letting users dictate and receive polished text at no extra cost.
