Pornhub adopts Apple age verification for UK users

Pornhub will now use Apple’s built‑in age‑verification for UK visitors. Apple introduced the feature in March as an iOS beta, then broadened it to other platforms to satisfy new age‑gating laws. Users simply tap “Verify” in Settings, and the result syncs across Safari and the Pornhub web app, confirming account age without demanding credit‑card numbers or photo ID.

Under the UK Online Safety Act, adult sites must implement robust age checks, a rule that has pushed many providers toward cumbersome verification methods. Aylo, Pornhub’s parent company, praised Apple’s system as “one of the strongest and hardest to circumvent protections” currently available. The integration means iOS users who have already cleared Apple’s check will see the standard adult experience without additional prompts.

Privacy advocates have long argued that a device‑level solution offers better data protection than third‑party forms that collect sensitive documents. With Apple handling verification, the burden shifts from the publisher to the operating system, potentially simplifying compliance for other UK adult platforms. The rollout demonstrates how ecosystem tools can become de‑facto standards for regulatory adherence for both users and regulators.
