Apple is reportedly preparing a significant update to the MacBook Pro, expected to launch as soon as late 2024. This refresh will introduce OLED display technology, a first for MacBooks, promising deeper blacks and higher contrast. The new models are also rumored to feature Apple's first touchscreen Mac, with macOS being optimized for intuitive touch navigation, including dynamic control adjustments and familiar gestures like pinch-to-zoom.

Further changes include a move away from the notch to a hole-punch cutout for the FaceTime camera, alongside the introduction of the Dynamic Island to the Mac. Design-wise, the MacBook Pro may become thinner, potentially leveraging Apple Silicon to maintain performance. Surprisingly, instead of the anticipated M6 Pro and M6 Max chips, the new models are expected to utilize the existing M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, with Apple focusing future advancements on the M7 generation, particularly for AI performance.

Speculation also suggests a potential rebranding to 'MacBook Ultra' to emphasize its premium positioning. The release window is anticipated to be between late 2024 and early 2025, possibly in October or November, marking a second MacBook Pro update within the year.
