Apple is preparing a significant update for the iPad mini, its first in two years. The most notable change is expected to be an OLED display, offering deeper blacks and richer colors, a technology previously adopted by the iPhone X and iPad Pro. While a rumor suggests it might lack ProMotion (120Hz refresh rate), this remains unconfirmed.

The new iPad mini is also anticipated to feature an upgraded chip, potentially the A19 Pro or A20 Pro, enhancing performance and enabling advanced Siri AI features. Additionally, Apple has reportedly tested a redesigned, water-resistant casing, similar to the iPhone, which would improve durability, especially for e-reader use. It might also incorporate a new vibration-based speaker system, potentially eliminating speaker holes and further aiding water resistance.

According to Bloomberg, Apple is targeting an October release for this heavily revised iPad mini, described as the "biggest overhaul to the iPad mini in half a decade." Pricing details are not yet available, but the current model saw a price increase to $599 recently. The potential cost of the OLED version remains speculative.
