Apple CarPlay will soon welcome another AI chatbot as xAI prepares to bring Grok Voice mode to the in-car platform. The latest version of Grok for iPhone already includes a placeholder CarPlay app displaying "Grok Voice mode coming soon to CarPlay." This expansion will bring Musk's AI assistant to virtually all cars, complementing its existing presence in Tesla vehicles.

Grok's arrival marks the third major AI integration for CarPlay, joining ChatGPT and Perplexity. The chatbot originated from Elon Musk's xAI company, which absorbed X (formerly Twitter) before becoming part of SpaceX. While Google hasn't committed CarPlay support for Gemini, the tech giant's models will power the upcoming Siri in iOS 27.

The integration reflects a broader trend of AI assistants expanding into automotive environments. CarPlay users will soon have multiple AI options for in-car interactions, potentially transforming how drivers access information. This competitive landscape suggests Apple may face pressure to enhance Siri's capabilities as third-party AI services become deeply embedded in its ecosystem.
