Apple is preparing to drop support for four Intel Mac models with the upcoming macOS 27 release. This version, set to debut at WWDC, marks the first macOS exclusive to Apple silicon, ending compatibility with Intel-based machines. The transition was previously announced by Apple last year when they stated macOS Tahoe would be the last to support Intel hardware.

The affected models include MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2019), MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2020), iMac (2020), and Mac Pro (2019). These represent the final Intel machines currently supported by macOS Tahoe. Users with these devices will be unable to install the latest software when macOS 27 launches this fall, though Apple silicon models will continue receiving updates.

Apple's complete compatibility list won't be official until WWDC, but it's unlikely any Apple silicon devices will lose support. M1 Macs can expect at least two more years of updates. On a related note, rumors suggest iOS 27 may similarly drop support for four iPhone models this year, indicating Apple's continued hardware refresh cycle.
