Lucid is rolling out Apple CarPlay support to its Gravity SUV starting tomorrow, March 12, in North America. The update brings both wired and wireless connectivity to the electric SUV, joining the Lucid Air sedan which already offered the feature. Existing owners will receive the upgrade via free over-the-air software update.

CarPlay and Android Auto support arrive as part of Lucid's UX 3.5 update, which will expand to Middle East and Europe markets later this month. Emad Dlala, Lucid's SVP of Engineering and Software, said the features rank among customers' most requested additions. The company positions the integration as creating a seamless connection between mobile devices and the Gravity's infotainment system.

This move puts Lucid ahead of Tesla, which is rumored to be developing CarPlay support but hasn't confirmed plans. Meanwhile, Rivian is pursuing Apple Car Key and Apple Watch integration instead. Lucid's decision to standardize CarPlay on all new Gravity models reflects growing consumer demand for smartphone connectivity in vehicles, even as some manufacturers like Tesla have resisted third-party integration in favor of proprietary systems.
