Jeff Daniels is joining The Morning Show for its fifth season on Apple TV, marking his third collaboration with the streaming service. The Emmy-winning actor will play a self-made billionaire and founder of a well-known investment firm, according to Deadline.

This casting is particularly noteworthy given Daniels' iconic role as news anchor Will McAvoy in Aaron Sorkin's The Newsroom, though he won't be playing a journalist this time. Daniels joins an already impressive ensemble including Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, Jon Hamm, and Billy Crudup. His previous Apple TV projects include the currently airing third season of Shrinking and the 2021 documentary 9/11: Inside the President's War Room.

The series wrapped its fourth season last November, with no confirmed return date for season 5. Showrunner Charlotte Stoudt suggested the new season might premiere in 2026, noting that without the previous writers strike delay, production could move more quickly. The Morning Show has become one of Apple TV's flagship series since its 2019 debut, earning critical acclaim and multiple awards.
