iPhone 18 Pro vs Ultra: form factor, camera, performance showdown

Apple’s upcoming fall lineup pits the conventional iPhone 18 Pro against the company’s first foldable, the iPhone Ultra. While the Pro and Pro Max keep the familiar slate design and screen dimensions of their predecessors, the Ultra introduces a shorter, wider outer display and an inner panel that mimics an iPad mini. That structural shift alone may tip buyers toward one or the other.

Camera departments stay split. The iPhone 18 Pro retains Apple’s full Pro suite—Main, Ultra‑Wide, Telephoto and front sensors—while the Ultra mirrors the main, ultra‑wide and selfie lenses but drops the Telephoto entirely. Rumors suggest the remaining lenses match the Pro’s quality, yet the exclusive Telephoto, expected to improve further this year, keeps the Pro line the clear photography leader.

Both models will ship with the A20 Pro chip, but chassis choices could affect real‑world speed. The Pro sticks with an aluminum unibody and a vapor‑chamber cooling system, a combo that helped the previous generation stay cool under load. The Ultra opts for a titanium frame without vapor‑chamber cooling, meaning it may throttle sooner in heat‑intensive scenarios. Buyers must weigh novelty against consistent performance.
