Apple has launched the iPhone 17e as a more affordable member of its iPhone 17 lineup, starting at $599 compared to the standard iPhone 17's $799 price tag. Both models share the A19 chip and 256GB base storage, but the iPhone 17e lacks several premium features to hit that lower price point.

The camera system represents the most significant downgrade on the iPhone 17e. While the iPhone 17 features an 18MP Center Stage front camera and dual rear cameras including an Ultra Wide lens, the iPhone 17e uses a 12MP TrueDepth camera and single 48MP Fusion Main camera. The iPhone 17e also misses out on advanced features like Dual Capture and the latest Photographic Styles.

Display differences are equally notable, with the iPhone 17e sporting a 6.1-inch screen without ProMotion 120Hz refresh rate or Always-On display capabilities. The iPhone 17e also retains the traditional notch instead of the Dynamic Island found on the iPhone 17. Additional compromises include 26 hours of video playback versus 30 hours, the absence of the Camera Control button, and slightly slower fast charging. For consumers deciding between models, the iPhone 17e offers solid performance with the A19 chip but requires significant trade-offs in camera capabilities, display technology, and premium features.
