iPhone 17e vs iPhone 16: $100 Price Gap Creates Tough Choice

Apple has introduced the iPhone 17e alongside its 2026 lineup, creating an interesting dilemma for budget-conscious buyers. The new model replaces the iPhone 15 series and now sits $100 below the iPhone 16, which Apple continues to sell at a reduced price after last year's launch.

While both devices share the same main camera and target similar price-conscious consumers, they differ significantly in features. The iPhone 17e uses Apple's newer A19 chip with faster performance and better battery life thanks to the efficient C1X modem. However, it lacks the Dynamic Island display, Ultra Wide camera, Camera Control, and newer connectivity options like Wi-Fi 7 and mmWave 5G that the iPhone 16 offers.

The iPhone 16 provides a more complete feature set with its brighter display, Ultra Wide camera with macro capabilities, Spatial photo and video capture, and additional hardware features. The iPhone 17e counters with better performance, longer battery life, and more storage at a lower price point. For many buyers, the choice comes down to whether they prioritize the iPhone 16's camera capabilities and display features or the iPhone 17e's performance and value proposition.
