During its “Surprise and Shine” event today, Apple confirmed that iPadOS 27 will be released on September 14. The update was first announced at WWDC26 and brings a host of new features, including a major upgrade to Siri.

Like iOS 27, iPadOS 27’s headlining feature is the new Siri AI, powered by the next generation of Apple Intelligence and Apple Foundation Models, as well as Apple’s partnership with Google and its Gemini models. The revamped assistant offers a more natural, context-aware experience, and can search the web to generate complete, useful responses.

iPadOS 27 also introduces welcome adjustments to the Liquid Glass design language, along with performance improvements to several system apps.

The update is compatible with a wide range of iPads, including the iPad Pro (M4 and later), iPad Pro 12.9-inch (4th generation and later), iPad Pro 11-inch (2nd generation and later), iPad Air 13-inch (M2 and later), iPad Air 11-inch (M2, M3, and M4), iPad Air 11-inch (4th generation and later), iPad (A16), iPad (9th generation and later), and iPad mini (A17 Pro and 6th generation).
