Apple has released the iPadOS 26.4 public beta, bringing a suite of new features to test devices. The update is available through Apple's public beta program at beta.apple.com, allowing users to enroll their iPads and access upcoming software ahead of the official release.

This release follows the minor iPadOS 26.3 update and packs significantly more changes. Safari gains back the compact tab bar option, while Apple Music receives a fullscreen album and playlist design, Playlist Playground feature, and multi-playlist song addition. Apple Podcasts gets upgraded video capabilities, and the wallpaper gallery has been completely revamped.

Other additions include an 'Urgent' smart list in Reminders, a new Ambient Music widget, and groundwork for Creator Studio features in Freeform. Since this is only beta 1, Apple will likely add more features in subsequent releases. The public beta program offers early access to these features but comes with the trade-off of potential bugs and performance issues typical of pre-release software.
