iOS 27.1 has officially launched, but is exclusive to the new iPhone Duo, with all other iPhone models skipping to iOS 27.2. Last night, Apple quietly released the update over the air, but iOS 27.1 will not appear in Settings for standard models. Instead, users will see iOS 27.0.1 as the most recent update. iOS 27.1 was made exclusive to iPhone Duo to allow Apple to keep details hidden until the Duo's official launch and simplify internal engineering management of the device's custom iOS designs and features.
Meanwhile, iOS 27.2 has been in beta testing for the last month and ships to all users next week. The new software includes Messages: Suggested Actions, Apple Music: New app icon and updated design, Apple TV: User profiles, Apple Podcasts: Overhauled Up Next queue, FaceTime: Dual Capture for group calls, and Siri AI: More languages supported. So next week when your iPhone says iOS 27.2 is available, know that you didn't miss iOS 27.1 entirely.
Best iPhone accessories: AirPods Pro 3 (now only $199, down from $249), Mag Safe Car Mount for iPhone, 10-year Air Tag battery case, 100W USB-C fast charging power adapter, and Home Kit Garage Door Opener.
