iOS 27 to drop support for iPhone 11 line, four models out

Apple will unveil iOS 27 at WWDC on June 8, and leaks suggest the update will abandon four legacy iPhones. The rumored build includes a Siri overhaul and Liquid Glass redesign, but compatibility may shrink dramatically. Analysts also expect deeper AR integration and battery‑life tweaks.

The leak, posted by Weibo source Instant Digital, omits iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max and the second‑generation iPhone SE. According to the same note, iOS 27 will require an iPhone 12 or newer, and the SE 3 becomes the earliest SE model supported. Apple already dropped the iPhone XS line from iOS 26. The decision mirrors last year’s exclusion of the iPhone XS series, tightening the upgrade path for older handsets.

Users left on iOS 26 will continue receiving security patches, but only bug fixes after the new release. Meanwhile, Apple Intelligence—promised as a core iOS 27 feature—needs an iPhone 15 Pro or later, meaning even compatible devices may miss flagship capabilities. Owners of the excluded models will need to consider selling or keeping a device that no longer receives major updates.
