iOS 27 introduces a highly anticipated feature to the Photos app: the ability to save a video frame as a standalone photo. Previously, users had to resort to taking screenshots of videos, which often resulted in lower resolution and poorly cropped images.

With iOS 27, a new 'Save Video Frame as Photo' option is available within the Photos app. Tapping the three-dot icon in the top-right corner of a video reveals this function. The currently displayed video frame is then saved as a new photo in the user's library, offering significantly better resolution and eliminating the need for manual cropping.

This feature addresses a long-standing omission, as iPhones have long supported capturing still frames during live video recording. iOS 27 finally brings this convenience to saved videos, allowing users to easily extract high-quality images from their video library.
