iOS 27 Beta 2 Replaces Writing Tools with Integrated Write with Siri

iOS 27 beta 2 introduces Write with Siri, a major overhaul of Apple's text editing capabilities that replaces the standalone Writing Tools from iOS 18. The keyboard now prompts users to write with Siri when editing text, allowing natural language requests to generate, proofread, or rewrite content. Apple removed the older panel with dedicated buttons like 'Friendly' and 'Professional' in favor of this voice-driven approach.

Tapping Write with Siri expands an input field from the Dynamic Island, where users describe what they want to do with their document. A smaller Siri button also appears next to predictive word suggestions if users start typing without engaging the feature first. The system works across Notes and most apps using standard text components.

Unlike the previous Writing Tools, this version integrates deeply with Siri's personal context, pulling in relevant information for text generation tasks. When rewriting existing content, a review panel shows before-and-after snapshots with undo options and an 'Edit with Siri' button for follow-up changes. Users can also trigger these features entirely by voice.

This represents one of the most significant changes between iOS 27 developer beta 1 and beta 2. Apple plans to release the first public beta in July, with a full launch expected in September alongside the new iPhone lineup. The features also extend to macOS Golden Gate and iPadOS 27.
