iOS 27 expands the options for customizing your iPhone's Home Screen with a new extra-large widget size. The previous largest widget, 'large,' filled a 4×4 grid of slots. Extra-large widgets stretch to a 4×6 grid, which is generally the size of a full Home Screen page.
Apple has added extra-large versions to a range of its apps, including Calendar (List and Up Next), Home (Accessories), Music (Recently Played, Recommendations and Top Charts), News (Today and Topic), Notes (Folder and Quick Note), Photos (Album and Featured), Reminders (List), Shortcuts, Stocks (Watchlist), TV (Continue Watching) and Weather (Forecast).
Because of the larger size, the widgets can show more content than before. Users with a packed calendar, a long to-do list, or a need to see more notes at once should find them especially useful. The widgets work on any iPhone size, but they are clearly intended for the extra-large screen of the iPhone Duo.
Readers who have tried the new widgets in iOS 27 are invited to share their favorites in the comments.
