Apple's M7 MacBook Pro Redesign Coming to Entry-Level Models in Spring 2027

Apple is preparing a redesigned entry-level MacBook Pro powered by the M7 chip for spring 2027, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. This marks a significant shift from the company's usual rollout pattern, where design updates typically take one to three years to reach lower-tier models. The 14-inch laptop, code-named K104, will feature the same new design language as upcoming high-end models.

Historically, entry-level MacBook Pro designs lag behind premium versions. The 14-inch model with M1 Pro debuted in 2021, but base models kept the older 13-inch design until 2023. The 2016 redesign took until 2019 to reach entry-level models. This time, Apple will narrow that gap to roughly six months, bringing the overhaul to the entry-level tier much faster than previous cycles.

The redesigned models will likely feature OLED displays with touch support, a slightly thinner chassis, and possibly a Dynamic Island. Apple reportedly scrapped high-end M6 chip plans to accelerate M7 development. The timeline shows high-end MacBook Pros launching this fall with M5 Pro/Max chips and the new design, followed by the M7 entry-level model in spring 2027.

This acceleration benefits budget-conscious buyers who want the latest design without paying premium prices. With recent MacBook price increases pushing the current entry-level model to $1,999, consumers now have a clearer path to modern hardware at more accessible pricing tiers.
