Apple's M6 Chip to Power New Mac Book Ultra This Fall

Apple is expected to unveil its next‑generation M6 processor this fall, debuting in a new laptop dubbed the Mac Book Ultra. Leakers suggest the Ultra will replace the rumored Mac Book Pro refresh, adding a touchscreen, OLED panel and Dynamic Island. Apple will also ship a base M6 variant for entry‑level Ultra models, widening adoption. The Ultra aims to set a new performance benchmark.

If Apple keeps the Mac Book Pro as a line, the fall could see M6, M6 Pro and M6 Max powering refreshed Pro models alongside the Ultra. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman hinted the chip might arrive sooner than expected, noting that other Macs on M5—such as the iMac, Mac mini and Mac Studio—are prime candidates for an upgrade. These upgrades could revive interest in the Mac segment.

No iPad Pro refresh is expected this year, so the M6 rollout will focus on Apple’s desktop line. Consumers waiting for a performance jump will likely target the upcoming iMac or Mac mini, which could receive the new silicon before any tablet refresh. Timing targets back‑to‑school and holiday buying cycles, reinforcing Apple’s edge over Windows rivals.
