Static Hour: Truth and Fear in a Newsroom

If only being a nighttime news editor was this thrilling all the time. Barkbyte Interactive's Static Hour turns the lonely overnight shift into a tense crisis. Set in a 1980s small-town radio station, you must unravel an emergency while confined to the newsroom, relying solely on incoming tips. Panic spreads, the government locks down, and reports of violence between family members flood in. Your job: decide which reports are real.

You'll monitor phones, radios, and police scanners, using analog tech to find truth. You must follow FCC regulations and manage public reaction, as every broadcast impacts the town. The game evokes Papers, Please with shades of Twin Peaks or Severance, creating a haunting scenario bigger than one room.

Creative director Claire Sarmiento said, "I loved the idea of spooky things happening in a small town just out of sight... Having to sort through junk data, red herrings, and scattered facts to decipher truth from preemptive speculation seemed like a flavor of horror that remains as relevant today as ever."

While only a trailer and screenshots are available, Static Hour nails its aesthetic with rotary phones and rolodexes. No release date yet, but it's coming to PC via Steam.
