In interviews, Harrelson described the show as fictionalized versions of himself and McConaughey, similar to Curb Your Enthusiasm. He explained that his character brings a bus to McConaughey's ranch, where it becomes trapped behind the gates, forming the central premise. The concept blends improvised comedy with the actors' real-life friendship.

The fall premiere adds to Apple TV's growing original content library, offering subscribers another A-list comedy option alongside existing series. The reduced episode count suggests the platform prioritized completing a quality season over expanding the initial rollout.
