Apple TV+ has announced two significant new series in development. The first, a comedy titled ‘Protective Custody’, will star Benicio Del Toro and Ben Stiller. Stiller will also executive produce the series, which hails from Emmy Award-winners Mike Judge, Steve Hely, and Dave King. The show follows a disgraced financier navigating life in protective custody while awaiting trial.

The second new series is an adaptation of Rebecca Yarros’ upcoming romance novel, ‘Peculiar Stars’. Yarros is the author of the popular ‘Fourth Wing’ series. The novel, set to release this November, will be adapted into a TV series for Apple TV+. The story centers on a young woman stranded on a deserted island with her fiancé’s family member, leading to a re-evaluation of her understanding of love.

While release dates are not yet confirmed, both shows are anticipated for 2027 or later. This expansion into new genres, particularly romance, marks a strategic move for Apple TV+ as it continues to build its content library.
