Apple rolls out beta 2 for tvOS 27, visionOS 27 and more

Apple released second developer betas for its upcoming OS line‑up, covering tvOS 27, visionOS 27, iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS “Golden Gate”, HomePod 27 and watchOS 27 (still pending). These builds roll out to registered developers now, while public betas will follow next month for every platform except visionOS. Developers can test new UI paradigms and API changes across devices.

Early builds traditionally suffer from performance hiccups, and Apple warns developers to install them only on secondary hardware. Despite that, this year’s betas have shown fewer crashes than previous cycles, suggesting a more polished foundation for the fall release. Public beta access will be available via beta.apple.com, but Vision Pro users won’t receive a public preview. Apple also provides detailed release notes with each build.

The staggered rollout means most consumers will not see the new features until the official autumn launch, but developers can start integrating tvOS 27’s updated media APIs and visionOS 27’s spatial computing enhancements now. Apple’s decision to keep Vision Pro out of the public beta underscores its focus on a controlled hardware‑software experience. This early access helps app makers optimize performance before the shopping surge.
