Apple has officially shipped release candidate versions of iPadOS 26.5, watchOS 26.5, and other 26.5 software updates across its entire ecosystem. These RC builds mark the final testing phase before the public release, expected as early as next week. Developers and public beta testers can now download these versions through Apple's beta program at beta.apple.com.

The 26.5 update brings several meaningful enhancements to Apple's platforms. Users can look forward to new Pride-themed wallpapers for iOS and iPadOS, an accompanying watch face for watchOS, and Apple Maps gaining a "Suggested Places" feature. Messages also receives end-to-end encrypted RCS messaging support, improving cross-platform communication between Apple and Android devices.

These releases represent the culmination of Apple's development cycle for this generation of updates. While Apple could push revised RC builds if critical bugs emerge, the current versions are expected to be what reaches all users. The RCS messaging support addresses long-standing compatibility issues with Android devices, marking a significant step toward better cross-platform communication.
