Discord is rolling out a revised age verification policy after delaying earlier plans due to privacy concerns. Starting this week, users will be automatically sorted into Adult or Teen groups based on account history, servers, and activity. Discord won't access messages or calls, and age groups won't be displayed publicly.

About 90 percent of users won't need further action if placed correctly. Unconfirmed users can verify via credit card, Apple App Store, Google Play Store, Google Wallet, or Age Key, plus ID scan or video selfie. Third-party vendors must delete user data, and facial age estimation runs on-device.

Teens face three restrictions: non-friend messages go to requests, sensitive content and adult-only servers are blocked, and full profiles are visible only to friends and small servers. Unconfirmed accounts get the first two restrictions until they verify.
