A poll of thousands of 9to5Mac readers shows higher Apple prices are likely to slow upgrade cycles, even among the most enthusiastic customers. Upgrading less frequently was the most common response, with only 9% saying the price increases wouldn’t affect their buying.

Some hikes exceeded 50%, with memory and storage upgrades literally doubling. An analyst report predicts no improvement in supply‑chain pricing before 2028, suggesting higher prices will persist for years.

Over 90% of respondents said they would change purchasing behavior; more than a third would upgrade less frequently. The breakdown is: Upgrade less frequently 38%, Wait for sales 14%, Drop one or more Apple products 12%, Buy lower‑end models 9%, No effect 9%.

One reader noted they would still buy Apple products but delay upgrades. New features might sway decisions, but the slowdown in sales could prompt Apple to consider price reductions to protect demand.
