Apple Pay is enhancing its user experience with four new features rolling out in iOS 27. A redesigned checkout interface simplifies card selection and provides clearer access to card information, including rewards and balances.

In a significant partnership, American Express now allows users to pay using Membership Rewards points directly within the Apple Pay checkout flow. For example, 10,000 points can be redeemed for $70 towards a purchase, with each point valued at 0.7 cents.

The "Tap to Share" feature, launching this fall, extends "Tap to Pay on iPhone." This allows customers to securely share information like contact details and loyalty program data with merchants via their iPhone for a more personalized in-store shopping experience. Customers can also view their basket in real-time before completing the transaction with Apple Pay.

Later this year, users will gain the ability to reload supported debit card balances directly within the Apple Pay interface or Apple Wallet.
