Apple Maps has rolled out its Detailed City Experience to two new Italian capitals, Rome and Naples. Users can now navigate 3D reconstructions of landmarks, lane markings, crosswalks and transit routes. The update follows the launch in Milan earlier this year and expands the feature from the original 37 cities list.

Rome’s experience showcases 3D views of iconic sights such as the Trevi Fountain, Piazza del Campidoglio, and Auditorium Parco della Musica. Naples users will spot the Castel dell’Ovo, Castel Nuovo, and the historic Basilica Reale Pontificia di San Francesco di Paola. Detailed lane guidance helps drivers navigate the city’s tight interchanges during peak traffic hours everyday.

Apple’s expansion builds on the 2021 launch that first added San Francisco, London, Los Angeles and New York. With 37 cities already covered, the addition of Rome and Naples brings the total to 39, reinforcing Apple’s push to rival Google Maps in urban detail. The move also supports local commerce by highlighting popular eateries like Naples’ L’antica Pizzeria da Michele.

Drivers and tourists will benefit from clearer lane markings and real‑time road‑level views at complex junctions, a feature praised by commuters who struggle with Italian traffic. Apple’s focus on high‑resolution geometry and transit overlays signals a broader strategy to provide deeper navigation data across key global markets. The update is available immediately in the App Store.
