Apple refreshed its Maps app in iOS 27, adding a suite of visual and functional tweaks. The most visible change is a new liquid‑glass icon that gives the app deeper, reflective layers. Under the hood, the Flyover experience now blends aerial photography with Vision Intelligence models, delivering sharper textures for trees, glass façades and other details in dozens of major cities, significantly.

Local Lists also arrives, a privacy‑first feature that surfaces nearby attractions based on trending data, though it currently rolls out only in the United States. Search now highlights Trending Restaurants and lets users request routes that avoid tolls or highways. On Apple Watch, a Parked Car widget appears in the Smart Stack, pulling the car’s last known location from the paired iPhone.

Offline Maps receive darker, clearer labels and auto‑zoom when a town is tapped, making navigation without data more legible. Visited Places improves accuracy and expands coverage, organizing past stops by category under the user’s profile. Together now these refinements tighten Apple’s mapping ecosystem, nudging the service closer to rival platforms while keeping the company’s privacy commitments intact.
