Apple CarPlay Adds Meta AI Chatbot App

Apple CarPlay has gained a new AI chatbot app ahead of Siri AI's official arrival. Since iOS 26.4, Apple has supported conversational apps on CarPlay, including AI chatbots. Siri AI is set to join CarPlay starting with iOS 27, currently in beta ahead of its September launch.

The fourth third-party AI chatbot to arrive with Apple CarPlay support is Meta AI. The latest version of Meta AI for iPhone now works with CarPlay, joining three other chatbot apps: ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Grok. However, Meta AI on CarPlay appears to be in limited testing for now.

While the iPhone app appears in CarPlay, launching it may show a "Not supported" message. The message reads: "Meta AI experience is not supported yet for your account." Testing a Meta AI paid account did not change the message. Despite limitations, it's notable that CarPlay is picking up a fourth major chatbot app even before Siri AI officially launches.

The key benefit of CarPlay is integrating existing iPhone apps with vehicles, offering more choice than built-in infotainment systems. Earlier this month, Meta AI also arrived on the Mac, where the desktop version is more capable than mobile apps.
